# 3rd-Party Authoring Tools

## Introduction

LearnDash and Uncanny Owl allow you to upload courses created in other course authoring tools, such as Articulate, iSpring, Captivate, etc.

## Compatible Standards

LearnDash is compatible with xAPI, SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 e-learning data standards.

When possible, it is recommended that courses are exported using xAPI, rather than SCORM.

## Export Instructions

### Articulate

1. Navigate to **Rise 360** and select the course you wish to export.
2. In the menu at the top of the course editor, select **Publish** > **LMS**.
3. Under **Publish settings**,
   1. LMS: **xAPI**
   2. Tracking: Select either **Track using course completion** (with a target percent), **Track using quiz result** (if a quiz is in the course), or **Track using Storyline block** (if an embedded Storyline block is required within the course).
4. The **Exit Course Link** and **Hide Cover Page** settings are optional, but may be left off.
5. Finally, select **Publish**.

The resulting ZIP file can be uploaded to LearnDash using the Tin Canny Uploader.

## Replacing 3rd-Party Course Content

After making an update to a course, you must replace the content on your LMS.

1. In the LMS, navigate to **Tin Canny Reporting** > **Manage Content**.
2. In the table presented, find the course content you wish to replace, and select **Replace** in the **Actions** column.
3. Select to delete either bookmark data or all data. It is recommended to select **Delete bookmark (resume) data only**.
4. Follow the instructions provided in the LMS to upload the new course content.
